Abstract

|
The author investigated, using rabbits, the effect of epinephrine and prednisolone on Arthus reaction. The animals were sensitized by repeated, intravenous or intraperitoneal injections of egg-albumin over a period of 4 or 5 Nveeks. The highly sensitized animals then were injected intradermally with the mixture of egg-albmin and epinephrine or prednisolone or egg-albumin alone within a few hours following a single systemic administration of epinephrine or prednisolone.
The results thus obtained were discussed and the conclusions drawn therefrom axe as follows:
1. The Arthus reaction was_intensified by the local or systemic administration of epinephrine.
2. The Arthus reaction was depressed by the local or systemic administration of prednisolone.
